Obituary for Raymond A. Vars
Pawcatuck - Raymond A. Vars passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2022 at the age of 63.
Ray was born at the Westerly Hospital to Wilfred and Helen Vars of Pawcatuck, CT.
After graduating from Stonington High School in 1977, Ray became a CNC machinist/programmer and worked at KMC Bearing, General Dynamics, United Nuclear Corp., Fisher Control and Posi Seal. While working, he attended Three Rivers Community College where he got his degree in Engineering.
Ray enjoyed holiday dinners with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, music, building cabinets for PA equipment and speakers. In his teen years, he was a member of the 4-H motocross club where he competed and won 3 Enduro races.
He is survived by his father Wilfred and partner Jane Imdahl of Mystic; brother Steven Vars of Pawcatuck; sister Cheryl Vars and her fiancé Charles Fellows of Mystic; niece Britney Anderson, John Banks and their son Harvest Banks of N. Stonington. Ray was predeceased by his mother Helen in 2004 and sister Patricia Martell in 2019.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday at 11a.m. in the funeral home.
