Obituary for Vincent Eric Harrington

Vincent “Eric” Harrington, 69, passed away on September 9, 2022.

He is the son of the late James and Joanna; father of Kyle and the late Ericka; brother of Paul; partner of Cindy.

Eric was a beautiful soul inside and out, who touched countless people with his kindness, compassion, steadfastness and calm. He loved and cherished his friends, his daughters and my family without limits. He was a creative and hardworking carpenter/ contractor who took great pride in his work. He loved music. His dance moves were smooth but he was equally at home getting down with the blues. He loved a party. He relished a good prank - “See ya later, Turkey Man!” In our early days, he captured my heart with daily declarations of love. His heart was constant. His love was true. He was often quiet and contemplative; a lover of nature. He understood the hidden lives of birds. He felt deeply. He loved our cats madly. His integrity and loyal nature were revered by those who knew and loved him.

His strength both physically and mentally was remarkable, especially through his brutal two-week battle with sepsis. He endured three hospitals. He deserved a medal for his unrelenting stamina and grit. He was my best friend and the love of my life. I am so endlessly grateful for the 15 years I was lucky enough to spend with my dear Bear. We both wished for 15+ more. The world has lost one of its quiet heroes.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” A.A. Milne

Thank you to the staff of Westerly, Lawrence & Memorial and Yale New Haven hospitals for all of their care.
