Obituary for Ann Marie Jakob

Ann Marie Jakob, of Westerly, passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Richard P. Jakob for 64 years.

Ann Marie was born in Sicily and came over to the United States at the age of 10. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose DiMarco. Her sister is Concetta Chapman of Westerly.

Ann Marie was a devoted Catholic and active within the church serving as a eucharist minister. She was always a kind, fun and true friend to all. She was active within the community especially when it came to her kids. She loved being a part of every sporting event or function that they had from their young age to college years. She loved to cook and bake. She was the type of mom or grandmother that was always there for her family. She loved family gatherings the most. Being with them meant the world.

Along with Richard P. Jakob, Ann Marie is survived by her son Robert Jakob (Denise); son David Jakob; and daughter Lori Jakob. Her son Richard C. Jakob predeceased her. She was grandma to Cameron Jakob of Westerly, Sarah de Ciutiis (John) of Narragansett and Rachel Houlihan (Paul) of North Stonington. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Sawyer and Ryder de Ciutiis. Ann Marie also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8th, from 2-4pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, Jan. 9th, at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly.
