Obituary for Joseph P. Crisanti
Joseph P. Crisanti, of Westerly passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 17 2023 surrounded by loved ones– just shy of his 90th birthday.
Joe was born in Manhattan, grew up in Bronx, NY and is a 45-year resident of Westerly. Prior to his 20-year career as a New York City fireman, he served proudly as a Marine during the Korean conflict. After his retirement from the ‘La Casa Grande’– the busiest firehouse in NYC, he was an employee of the Town of Westerly.
Everyone who knew Joe knew his ‘wise-guy’ personality, his knack for storytelling, and his warm and generous spirit.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Becker, Andrea Rauso Eckerle, Raymond Rauso, Randy Rauso; and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A visiting hour will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Wednesday, January 25 from 9:30a.m. – 10:30a.m., immediately followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 10:30a.m. Burial with Full Military Honors will take place at RI Veterans Cemetery, 301 So. County Trail, Exeter at 12:00 noon. Attendees are asked to arrive by 11:45a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island at act.alz.org.
