Joan C. (Jackson) Wicklund, 88, of Shumankanuc Hill Road, Charlestown, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Wicklund.

A Registered Nurse for the State of RI, Joan was a member and past president for over ten years of both the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs and the Nurses’ Club. She was a devoted communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Carolina. Joan enjoyed traveling extensively and going to the theater. She was an active member of the Charlestown Senior Center where she enjoyed playing Scrabble and Whist.

She leaves behind her two children, Allyson M. Gaccione and Gregory S. Wicklund, both of Charlestown; daughter-in-law Patty Wicklund of Westerly; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her son, Christopher Wicklund, predeceased her one month ago.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-6pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, 437 Carolina Back Road, Carolina. Burial will follow at 1pm at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 So. County Trail, Exeter.
