Obituary for Thomas F. Swift

On Thursday, April 20th, 2023, Thomas Swift, 70, passed away into eternal life after losing his courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Tom was the beloved husband of Joyce Swift. They were married for 43 years.

Tom was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, but made his home in Westerly for the past 37 years. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, CCRI, and attended Roger Williams University.
Early in his career, he was a retail manager for Kinney Shoe Stores. He then transitioned to the
automotive industry and became a Service/Parts Manager for several local businesses. Cars
were a big passion for him. Tom was a former fourth degree member of the Knight of Columbus
Narragansett Council.

Besides his wife, Tom is survived by his beloved sons, Jeffrey and Michael Swift, Michael’s wife
Mary, and his beautiful granddaughter Faye. He is also survived by his cherished niece/adoptive
daughter Alissa Stuckey and her partner Mike; his brother Scott Swift; brother-in-law Anthony
Scotto; and his adored rescue dog Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents, Clyde W. Swift and Frances M. Swift, and his sister Janice Stuckey.

Tom was very active and loved to bike, jog, and participate in all types of athletic workouts. He
was an avid Three Stooges fan. Every summer, Tom looked forward to being poolside in his
backyard oasis. Despite a gruff exterior, Tom had a big heart and was a loving, generous person. He was an extra special husband, father, grandfather, and forever friend. He will be greatly missed. Heaven has welcomed another beautiful soul.
