Obituary for Robert M Vredenburg Sr.
Robert M. Vredenburg, Sr., beloved husband for 59 years of Judith (Barr) Vredenburg, of Ashaway, passed away at Apple Rehab Clipper on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the age of 79.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Lydia Vredenburg.
Robert was employed as a teacher at Chariho High School for 26 years. Upon his retirement from the high school, he taught at CCRI and Chariho Adult Education. He was a longtime member of the DCCCP where he had served as a Deacon.
Robert was an active member of the Mystic Woodcarvers and the Westerly Senior Center. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid gardener. However, Bob's greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Judith, Robert leaves behind his three children, Susan Haley and husband Timothy, Pamela Gersbeck, and Robert M. Vredenburg, Jr. and wife Sharon; and brother George Vredenburg and his wife Kim. Bob also leaves his seven grandchildren, Tim, Chelsea, John, Paul, Luke, Anna and Jude; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:30p.m. to 7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 11am at Dunn’s Corners Community Church Presbyterian, 221 Post Road, Westerly. Burial will follow at First Hopkinton Cemetery in Ashaway. There is no procession to church from the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Westerly Senior Center in Robert's memory.
