Obituary for Frances Myszka

Frances Myszka, of Granite St., Westerly, passed away at Royal Westerly Nursing Home on Friday, June 23, 2023. She was 82.

She was born in New Britain, CT to the late Stanley and Helen Myszka.

Frances attended New Britain CT schools, graduated from Mary Immaculate Academy, received a B.S. degree from C.C.S.U., her M.A. degree from Fairfield University, a 6th year graduate certificate from C.C.S.U. and a 7th year of graduate work from UCONN.

She taught grades K-2 in New Britain for 34 years, retiring in 1995. She also taught at their Adult Ed and Head Start programs.

Frances traveled extensively abroad as well as in the U.S. Upon retirement she chose to live permanently in Westerly, RI. She did volunteer work at St. Clare Church, Westerly Hospital, and the Westerly Schools Mentoring Program. She was never without a book to read; she always encouraged her students to develop a love for reading.

She leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Robert S. and Elizabeth Myszka of Southington, CT; two very special nephews, Michael Myszka and Jonathan (Bonnie) Myszka; a great-nephew Jack; and many cousins and friends. Frances was predeceased by her companion of 35 years, Angelo “Red” Gingerella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare Church, 4 Saint Clare Way, Westerly at 10 a.m. on Wednesday followed by committal prayers. Burial is private.
