Robert Stanley Dabkowski (Bob) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 21, 2023 at the age of 79.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut he was the son of the late Olga and Stanley Dabkowski. Bob is survived by his devoted wife Conni, daughter Stacey, son Robert, son Steven and wife Bonnie; seven grandchildren: Elisabeth, Madalyn, Chad, Kara, Corey, Nicholas and Hallie; his sister Karen Stone and nephews, Brendan and Ryan; his sister Shirley Fargnoli, friend and brother-in-law Billy Fargnoli; beloved Aunt Alice Chudecki; and many cousins and numerous extended family and friends.
Bob's devotion to family was always his first priority; he was a true family man. He treasured each and every moment with his beloved wife Conni whom he fell in love with at first glance almost 57 years ago. Together they lovingly raised their three children. Bob was not only a father and mentor to Rob, Steve and Stacey but also a supportive friend. For those fortunate enough to be a member of Bob's inner circle, he was best known for his gigantic hugs, witty humor, wise
words of advice and unwavering strength.
Bob was very proud of his Polish heritage. He enjoyed listening to polka music and greatly enjoyed polish cuisine, particularly homemade pierogies that Conni and Bob would prepare for the family each Christmas and Easter. On the dance floor he was light on his feet and could polka dance all night long. Polka music sparked his life and brought him great happiness.
Bob was a member of the Westerly Yacht Club. For the majority of Bob's life, he was an avid outdoorsman, saltwater fishing and boating with his family were his passions. He was at home as long as he was near the ocean. Traveling, particularly cruising with his wife Conni was one of his favorite pastimes.
At the young age of 17, Bob joined and pridefully served in United States Army. He loved his country deeply and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks Club and was a proud supporter of law enforcement. After serving in the Army, Bob obtained a college degree and worked in Information Technology for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut from which he retired after 33 years.
Though we find comfort in knowing that his soul carries on, Bob's presence on this earth will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
