Obituary for Eileen B. Sheridan
Eileen B. Sheridan, of Westerly, and formerly of Bridgeport, CT, passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 74.
She was born in Queens, NY, the only daughter of the late Edward and Florence Sheridan.
Eileen received her Bachelors in English from the University Bridgeport in 1972 and her Master of Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1974.
She worked in the Bridgeport Public Library System as the bookmobile librarian and as a librarian in the children’s department for several years before serving as Coordinator of Youth Services until her retirement. In this capacity she introduced many innovative children’s programs and nurtured many young imaginations.
Eileen enjoyed her many pets, traveling, reading and writing, and was an author of children’s books and poems. She served her community on the Board of the Beardsley Zoo, and supported the First Book initiative, the School Volunteer Association, and the League of Women Voters.
She leaves her extended family and friends.
