Obituary for Immacolata Turano (Petrone)
Westerly - Immacolata (Petrone) Turano, beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Turano, passed away at the age of 87 on October 14, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family at the Westerly Hospital.
Born in Serricella, Acri, Italy, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Annunziata Petrone. Immacolata was an active member in the Catholic community, both in Westerly and in Italy. She was a proud employee of Guild Musical until her retirement. Those closest to her would describe her as “the strongest, kindest, most selfless and overall, most amazing woman to ever grace this
earth.”
She is survived by her seven children, Angelo and Rosetta Turano of Italy, and Grazia and Enrico Sposato, Nancy and Frank Siciliano, Maria and Frank Genovese, Salvatore Turano and Kelley Steele, Charlie and Kathy Turano, and Frank and Maria Turano, all of Westerly; her sister Bombina Turano of Westerly; brother Salvatore Petrone of Acri, Italy; her twelve grandchildren and their spouses; and her eleven great-grandchildren and many friends.
Besides her parents and loving husband, Immacolata was predeceased by her siblings, Rosaria,
Amalia, Vincenzina, and Giorgio, all of Italy.
Immacolata held her family closest to her. She enjoyed spending quality time with each of them.
She took great pride in providing all those who visited her with a delicious home cooked meal. She loved cooking, knitting, gardening, and sharing her home with her family. She was the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4pm-7pm. at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There is no procession from the funeral home to church.
