Obituary for Anthony c "Tony" Fonda
Anthony C. Fonda, beloved husband of Dyana (Seliga) Fonda, of Oceanview Highway, Watch Hill, RI, passed away in his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the age of 97.
Born in Hamden, CT, he was the son of the late Nicola and Assunta Fiondella.
Anthony, or Tony, as many knew him, was a graduate of Boardman Trade School in New Haven and had many successful careers over the course of his long life, most notably in real estate development. He was a life member of the Watch Hill Yacht Club and a longtime member of the Quinnipiac Club, the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and more recently became a member of the Calabrese Society. He was also an honorary Chief of Police in Westerly.
Devoted to his business and especially his family, Tony had an eye for building and landscape design, loved playing with his grandchildren, and his harmonica always filled the house with joyful music. He was an avid reader and passionate about history. His affable nature, keen sense of humor and abounding warmth charmed all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Dyana, he will be dearly missed by his four children, Susan Boutard, Peter C. Fonda and wife Jonna, Anitra Moore and husband Bobby, and William A. Fonda. Tony also leaves behind seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his six brothers, Phillip, Peter, Vincent, Michael, Mario, and Nicholas; as well as his four sisters, Concetta, Assunta, Florence, and Anna; and his daughter, June Alspaugh.
Relatives and friends will be received by family at visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly.
