Richard M. “Dick” Gillum, 84, of Pawcatuck, passed away at the Westerly Hospital on November 2, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Cindy (Birchell) Gillum for 29 years. Born in Ashland, KY, he was the son of the late Richard and Lois Gillum.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Dick worked in procurement in the manufacturing field for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army. Dick was a member of the University of Connecticut Founders Society and he was a big fan of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. He was also a member of the Mystic Rod & Gun Club.

Dick was predeceased by his parents and his children, Wendy Santos and Jeffrey Gillum and his sister Donna Gutierres. Besides his wife, he is survived by his grandsons, Adam, Ryan and Preston and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cindy would like to thank the staff at the Westerly Hospital for making Dick’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
