Obituary for Margaret M. "Peggy" Itteilag (Cardinal)
Margaret M. "Peggy" (Cardinal) Itteilag, of Lanphere Road, Westerly, passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the age of 79. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Itteilag, Sr.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Julia Cardinal. Margaret was also raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Michael and Mamie Spellman.
Margaret worked as an accounting clerk for The Moore Company for many years and was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Margaret loved spending time with her family and reading. She also loved dogs including her present dog, Abby.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert L. Itteilag, Jr. and wife Marlo of Warwick and Michael Itteilag and wife Maria of Marlborough, CT; three grandchildren, Nate, Anna and Joey; as well as several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her brother William Cardinal and sister Dorothy Gouvin.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 4pm – 7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly at 10am on Friday, Nov. 17. There is no procession from the funeral home to church.
