Richard Allen Soares Sr., 54, of Sharon, VT was called to rest unexpectedly on December 8, 2023.
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love. And he was truly loved by his family and friends. We all wish he knew just how much he was loved. He was known as the “peacemaker” of the family. Never taking sides and always wanting everyone to get along.
He was born and raised in Stonington, CT to William Soares and the late Nancy (Correira) Soares. There is where he attended school and lived and worked in the Stonington/Westerly area most his life. Thirteen years ago, he moved to Sharon, Vermont where he bought his first home and started his own welding and fabrication business called “Affordable Rust Repair”. He was proud of his accomplishments and worked hard to be able to live a comfortable life. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved riding his Harleys. He bought his first Harley Davidson from his brother Bill, a Sportster 1200. Which happened to be his first Harley as well. He was excited to have it. He then went on to buying and selling more motorcycles and his love of riding with friends carried through the rest of his life.
He was sadly predeceased by his brother Clifford Soares, his mother Nancy (Correira) Soares and his son Richard Allen Soares, Jr. He is survived by his loving daughter Kaitlin Manchester and her son, Richy’s only grandchild, Liam Manchester-Simpson who will miss him tremendously, his father William Soares, sister Nancy Daugherty of Westerly, brother William Soares and wife Heather of Westerly, sister Dana Ford of Ashaway, and sister Dawn Therrien and her husband Jerry of Warwick as well as many aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces, and nephews who will miss him greatly, especially his best friend and dog, Ally!!
Until we meet again, they say, as he journeys on the longest motorcycle ride to heaven joined by all his family and friends who passed before him. Rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly, RI from 12pm to 2pm with a Celebration of Life to follow. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
