Obituary for David G. Torpey
David Gerard Torpey, 58, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 in Westerly, RI.
David was a resident of Stamford for 43 years. He attended Stamford schools. He also attended the Connecticut Police Academy when, after graduating, became a respected police officer on the Stamford Police Department. He served Stamford for 20 plus years with honor. He was proud to continue the legacy of public service following his grandfather as well as several uncles in law enforcement.
He has lived in Westerly for the past several years where he was fortunate to build local relationships with a number of people.
He is survived by two older brothers, Edward and his wife Rachel of Southbury, CT and Mark and his wife Joanne of Bethel, CT as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are omitted. Private burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel, CT will be held at the convenience of the family. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
