Born in Hatfield, Mass., he was a son of the late Joseph and Blanche Sadowski.

Edwin was the founder of Candy Galore and More in Westerly where he supplied all the neighborhood “children” a variety of sweet treats ranging from nostalgic penny candies to high end chocolate delicacies. It was there that he became known to most Westerly residents as “The Candy Man”. He accepted his title proudly. He was a member of The Westerly Businessman’s Association and The Westerly-Pawcatuck Chamber of Commerce. As a young man, Edwin owned several variety stores in northern Rhode Island. He had been employed by Gerber Jewelry in Providence and Macys in Waterford, CT. He enjoyed outings with his family and particularly liked dining out at Twin Oaks in Cranston.

In addition to his wife, Edwin leaves a son Kevin M. Sadowski of Cranston; two daughters, Karen J. Sadowski of Cranston and Patricia A. Rainville of Plaistow, NH; and four stepdaughters, Patricia Browning of Hurricane, WV and Wendy Neugent, Marilyn McKenna and Santa Ferando, all of Westerly. He is also survived by two brothers, Arthur and Robert Sadowski; a sister Elizabeth “Betty” Donahue; seven grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Edwin was predeceased by a brother Joseph and his eldest son Edwin Joseph.
