Obituary for David Alan Wright

David  Alan  Wright
David Alan Wright, 82, of Carolina, RI, beloved husband for 50 years of the late Marcia A. (Mayhew) Wright, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2017.

Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Leslie E. and Ollie V. Wright, formerly of Ashaway, RI.

He graduated from Westerly High School in 1952 and then served two years in the US Army and six years with the RI National Guard, Battery D. He was an Electrical Designer at Electric Boat in Groton, CT for 47 years, retiring in 1999.

An active member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Alton, RI, he was a member of the Bishops Committee and Liturgy Committee, served as Treasurer for 25 years, and delegate to Convention for many years. He was also on the Search Committee for Bishop Wolfe.

David enjoyed traveling, making two trips to Scotland and Hawaii, many trips in New England and New York State. He also enjoyed caring for his family and home.

He is survived by three sons, Alan L. Wright and wife Donna of Charlestown, Kevin C. Wright and husband Jeff of Wakefield, and Raymond E. Wright and wife Audrey of Exeter; his grandson Tyler R. Wright who was the joy of his life; and step grandchildren, Wayne, Mark and Dale Boss of Charlestown, and Josh and Brooke Early of Wakefield. He also leaves a brother Leonard Wright and wife Peggy of Westerly; his stepmother Ruth Wright of Ashaway; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Brian Wright.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 6-8pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Service with Full Military Honors on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 322 Church St., Wood River Jct., RI.
