Obituary for Evelyn Thibodeau (Tyrer)

Evelyn Thibodeau (Tyrer)
Evelyn Thibodeau, 94, passed away September 24, 2017 in Brooklyn, CT.

Evelyn was born in Wigan, England to Thomas and Mary Jane Tyrer on October 20, 1922. As a young girl she worked in the historic Trencherfield Mill, which was a cotton spinning mill, until the onset of World War II. During the war, she supported the war effort working in a munitions factory. It was during this time she met the love of her life, Raymond E. Thibodeau, who was stationed at the US Air Base in Burtonwood, England serving with the 86th Fighter Group. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1946, and after a brief honeymoon, Raymond returned to Europe and then back home. Evelyn left her family in England and arrived in the United States in June of 1946 to be reunited with her husband where she started a new life and family. Evelyn enjoyed playing her organ, singing, knitting, bowling and later in life was a self-taught painter.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Jane; two brothers, Herbert and Thomas Tyrer; a sister Edna Heaton; her husband Raymond; her daughter Patricia Edna Baker and granddaughter Tammy DiNoto.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, David Thibodeau and wife Susan of Canterbury, CT and Robert Thibodeau and wife Maureen of South Kingstown, RI; six grandchildren, Paul DiNoto, Kerrie Thiffeault, Laura Gibson, David Baker, Melissa Thibodeau and Kimberly Thibodeau; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon DiNoto and Kaitlyn Thiffeault, with one more great-grandchild expected next month to her grandson David Baker.
