Howard (Tim) Morton Fry II, 87, died peacefully at home on May 31. He was with his wife, Nancy (Nickerson); they were just a few days short of celebrating their 67th anniversary.
Tim grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, the son of Samuel and Margaret (Thun) Fry. He was predeceased by siblings Thomas M. Fry and Barbara Gosh and is survived by sister Victoria Guthrie.
A lifelong intellectual Hhe graduated from St. Paul’s School, Yale University, and Harvard Law School. He worked as an attorney, founding a law firm in PA, then serving as General Counsel of the Agency for International Development under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
While at law school, Tim contracted polio, however he never complained nor let that limit him. He and Nancy traveled the world, loved sharing hospitality with friends, adored their terriers and read voraciously. An ardent Republican, he attended numerous Republican National Conventions and excelled as their Finance Chairman for the state of Pennsylvania.
A gifted listener, interested in people, Tim served as a beloved mentor and guide for not only his four children and their spouses; Victoria Saglio (Robert) and Julia Landstreet (Beverly), Westerly, RI, Allison (W.B. Dixon) Stroud, West Grove, PA, and Howard M. Fry III, Marathon, FL; but also, his nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
